When to Book
The ideal time for a newborn session is within the first two weeks after birth, when babies are still very sleepy and naturally curl into those sweet, poses. Booking during pregnancy (ideally after your 20 week scan) is recommended to secure a session date, with flexibility built in to adjust once the baby arrives.

My Alwoodley home studio is designed to be warm, calm, and welcoming, creating the perfect environment for both babies and parents. Sessions are baby-led, allowing plenty of time for feeding, cuddles, and soothing, so there’s never any rush. The goal is to create a relaxed experience where parents can sit back and enjoy watching their little one’s first portraits being captured.

Book early
Secure your provisional date from your 20‑week scan with a £99 deposit. Fully flexible if baby arrives early or late.

Photoshoot day
Ideally, your styled session takes place while baby is still sleepy and curly, usually within their first two weeks, but sessions can be done for up to 6 weeks old babies.

Viewing & Ordering
Few days after the session you will receive am online gallery for viewing and selecting your favourite images, which would then be beautifully edited and retouched.

Delivery
Depending on the collection you choose, your beautifully retouched images will be delivered within 2 weeks via download or on a USB drive. Prints and any other photography products can be collected from the studio, or send via post for clients from outside Leeds area.

Before you book
The questions I'm asked most often.

Ideally before two weeks old, when babies are still sleepy and naturally curl into those classic poses. Sessions are still possible up to around six weeks, though older babies may sleep less during the shoot and some poses might no longer be possible.

It's recommended to book after your 20‑week scan. We set a provisional date around a week after your due date, then confirm or reschedule once baby arrives.

No, as long as I have last minute availability, it’s not too late! Although it is best to have your newborn session done before your baby is 2 weeks old, it can be done for up to 6 weeks old babies. However, you should keep in mind that “older” newborns usually sleep less and are less curly, so certain poses might no longer be achievable. On the other side, we might be able to get some cute awake shots!

Yes. I have an ever‑growing collection of handmake wraps, outfits, bonnets, headbands and posing props . Just bring baby essentials, plus anything sentimental you'd like featured.

All newborn sessions take place in my cosy home studio in north Leeds, LS17 7SR.

Full newborn sessions are usually 2-3h long, however, they can be up to 4h if the baby is unsettled or requires frequent feeding breaks . Ultimately, It all depends on how the baby is on the day.
I also offer mini sessions, which usually last around 1h -2h, and are perfect for families who only want a couple of p[photos, of baby only.

Yes, full sessions include family and sibling portraits (if you’re up for it).

Yes, I always ask my clients to let me know what colours they like and what colours are a no no, however if you can’t decide, I’m more than happy to suggest few options. It might be helpful to go through my portfolio for some inspiration as well.

A proofing gallery arrives within a couple of days so you can choose your favourites. Fully retouched final images are ready 2–3 weeks after your selection
