There are seasons of life that pass far too quickly, even when they come with their own set of struggles and hardship. The growing belly. The anticipation of waiting for your baby. The little hand reaching for yours. The way your child curls into you. Bare feet in the grass. Wind in your hair. Laughter that comes out of nowhere. Before you know it, those ordinary little moments will be the ones you miss the most.

My cinematic outdoor maternity and motherhood sessions are about slowing down enough to notice them. We won’t be trying to create an idealized version of motherhood, but rather documenting your version of it - wild, tender, playful, quiet, messy, deeply connected and completely yours.

For the woman becoming a mother

Pregnancy is a unique and beautiful experience marked by personal and familial changes. It’s not always a smooth journey, far from it for some, but trust me, you’ll never regret having your maternity photos taken, even if you don’t feel your best at the time.

Because maternity photography is about remembering you in this moment. The anticipation. The tenderness. The uncertainty. The excitement. The strength of your body. The tiny person you haven't met yet.

Perhaps we’ll spend an evening wandering through the landscape together, your partner’s hand resting on your growing belly. Perhaps there will be laughter, wind in your hair and a little adventure. Or perhaps the whole session will feel quiet and intimate.

Whatever this chapter feels like for you, that is what I want to photograph.

These sessions are more candid, natural and focus more on connections rather than looking straight at the camera.

And for the mothers already in the thick of it…

Motherhood deserves to be documented too. Not just the birthdays and the milestones, but the everyday things you think you’ll always remember. The way your child reaches for you. The way they still fit perfectly into your arms. The little rituals that belong only to your family. The way they look at you and the way you look at them.

These are the photographs that become more precious with time. Because it’s true when they say “the days are long, but the years are short”. Children grow, seasons change and life moves forward much faster than we care to admit.

And one day, you’ll look back and realise that this was it. The magic of little, everyday moments.

I know it can feel easier to stay behind the camera. Maybe you don’t feel like you look your best, or you’re always the one making sure everyone else is ready. But one day, your children won’t care whether your hair was perfect or whether you felt camera-ready. They’ll simply want photographs of you, loving them, holding them, laughing with them and being part of their childhood.

Before you book

The questions I'm asked most often about outdoor storytelling sessions.

  • Studio maternity sessions are polished, structured and directed, with multiple outfit changes and fine art retouching. While I still give directions, prompts and guide you through some posing during outdoor storytelling sessions, they are more candid, with unposed moments, especially if your family is joining in. They are shot on location in natural light, with a warmer, more nostalgic edit and minimal retouching.

  • Soft, flowing fabrics in warm neutrals photograph beautifully outdoors. Textures, layers, natural fabrics and accessories can really elevate the look of your photographs. You're welcome to browse my client closet or bring your own outfit - I'll guide you either way.

  • Absolutely - many outdoor sessions naturally include partners, older siblings or the family dog. Just let me know who's joining when you book.

  • Yorkshire weather is unpredictable, so we simply make the call together on the day and reschedule if needed - no stress, and no charge for moving your date.

  • You'll receive your viewing gallery within 2 weeks.
